From Duncan:
I talked this past Friday afternoon with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in Blythewood. Their new Global Outsourcing Services operation is ramping up to 300 new hires in the next 15 months, and they are very interested in May and December graduates. They are registered with the Career Center, so details can be found there.
The work in this division is the management and maintenance of computer systems for defense and aerospace companies across the country (and probably overseas as well). They are primarily interested in unix expertise, but they are also interested in Windows and in SAN. They do have a Unix Academy in which people can be trained. The Unix Academy has an intro section on unix in general and then a week each (or so) devoted to details of HP UX, AIX, Solaris, etc.
CSC says they are the third biggest such company in the world, after IBM and EDS. They have 90,000 employees worldwide, so there are opportunities for change, growth, and movement inside the company for people who do well.
The Property and Casualty division of CSC, also in Blythewood, is also hiring. They are more interested in CIS-type students who would fit into a software environment in the insurance business.
Here are their online job wanted listing. You should also log in at jobmate to apply for jobs.
